The Human Shark Island Challenge
The Human Shark Island Challenge finished up, very sadly, with the remaining 16 competitors choosing to divide the prizemoney, rather than surf tiny waves. Therefore, the $50,000 was split so each guy received $2725.
It shows that even with a 25 day waiting period, Huey can still screw you over. But bear in mind, this was the first time in nine years that its happened, so the gods have been pretty kind to us.
There were still a few awards to hand out, with Best Barrel going to Andrew Lester for a six-eight foot wave in the first round, and Guilherme Tamega took out Best Move for the third year running, with an amazing forward 360-degree spin off the lip.
Most of the pros, who have cooling their heels around Cronulla for so long, are now off to Portugal for the Sintra Pro, Aug 24-28.
